Oh Pelly Can

I belong to the Dave Matthews Band Warehouse site. Myself and some of the other members are doing a 365 Photos. Every day we take a photo and post it. No cash prizes or anything just something creative to do. We started on Jan. 1, 2013. So I put up my first photo yesterday. It's of a pelican. I was driving in from Portland (TX) and I was thinking, "What am I going to photograph for this first picture?"

I thought of a miriad of different things, none of them seemed good. As I was driving I just whipped into one of the T-Heads down on the water. It was chilly and it was about noon. I parked randomly, just slid into a space, and was taking pictures of the bells on my car. I decorated my car with Christmas bells on the antenna. Then I noticed the pelicans standing on shrimp boats and on the pier. So I approached them slowly thinking they would just take off, they can be skiddish. And they didn't. They stayed put and let me approach. I felt really honored that they let me do that. I know that sounds strange but it's true.
